TORCH to bring Discovery Seminar to Houston
Jewish Herald Voice | May 8, 2014 On June 1, Discovery Seminar will be held at the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center’s Kaplan Theatre from 6-9 p.m. Guest-lecturer, Rabbi Yosef Misrachi will return to Houston to deliver the inspiring and entertaining seminar.

Each year, more than 10,000 people across the globe experience Discovery. The seminar begins by inviting participants to challenge Judaism’s central principles in a novel process called Failsafe.

Based on analytical techniques used by the Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency, the chain of discussions draws audiences into a fascinating and rigorously intellectual means of testing the rational basis for belief in Judaism. Highlights include “Hidden Codes of the Torah,” which demonstrates the results of high-speed computer analysis of the letters of the Torah.

A variety of original workshops round out the seminar, exploding the myth that Judaism is anti-pleasure and teaching participants how to take advantage of Judaism’s insights for personal enrichment.

Brought to the Houston Jewish community by TORCH, the Discovery Seminar will challenge and engage the spirit, intellect and humor of Jews from all backgrounds, with any level of Jewish education. One previous Discovery Seminar participant describes her experience as “one of the most pivotal moments in [my] Jewish education” and “a tremendous opportunity for the greater Jewish community of Houston to connect with Judaism in a way that they may never have thought possible.”
